The EVONIK Data Model : Essential for Industry 4.0

The EVONIK Data Model : Essential for Industry 4.0

Dr Dorothea Schwarz, Senior Project Manager

EVONIK

EVONIK Technology & Infrastructure developed a data model for engineering and owner/operator purpose. Based on this data model they will redesign their CAE landscape in engineering and operation as well. For a proper redesign each existing software had to undergo an evaluation and selection process triggered by users and software administrators. EVONIK aim to achieve a highly integrated environment capable to serve local and international projects and foster a smooth handover of data and documents to customers. The data model will be explained and first intermediate results of the selection process will be represented.

Dr Dorothea Schwarz, Senior Project Manager, EVONIK

10:55 - 11:15 Digitalisation in oil & gas unifies the virtual and real worlds to drive project collaboration

Digitalisation in oil & gas unifies the virtual and real worlds to drive project collaboration

Vaseem Khan, VP Global Engineering McDermott Inc.

The oil and gas industry has widely accepted the use of 3D modelling software for the design of offshore and onshore upstream and downstream facilities; however the full benefits of integrated software packages and design review tools has not been realised. Manual collaboration on documentation, especially between EPC and owner, rather than system-driven exchange of data, remains more widespread than we would like to admit. For McDermott the Holy Grail is to be able to beneficially use digital collaboration tools, such as AVEVA Engage, in the design or EPC stage to create a Digital Twin that unifies the virtual and real worlds. The presentation will detail one means of building, maintaining and beneficially using a cradle to grave Digital Twin.

Developing a business case for digitalisation

Amit Kar, IM Manager

Basrah Gas Company

Basrah Gas Company is a young joint venture, operating in one of the most challenging settings imaginable. Although the topic leadership must grapple with – finances, human resources, development, HSE – are commonplace, in the case of BGC these are present in their most extreme, concentrated form. Getting the basics right is the daily objective, much of the organisation needs training and is underutiliszed, and a lot of work is still done ‘on paper’. In such a setting, how does one bring the topic of Digitalisation to the table and get leadership to support it? In this talk Amit Kar will share how BGC has taken the first steps on the journey of Digitalisation. Much of the struggle will be familiar to the audience, and there may be useful pointers to building support for Digitalisation in other settings. The overall message may be quite simple though; if we can do it, so can you.
